🧾 The Code to Remember:

NIC Code is important to ensure the right recognition and avail benefits offered by the government to take your biomass business further.
Make sure to use Sub-class No. 38300, NIC 2008 to get placed in the right category for biomass-based fuel manufacturing and recycling activities.

🏛️ PROCEDURE TO APPLY / GET / ENDORSE NIC CODES

NIC codes are used in various government registrations and schemes. Here’s how to apply or modify them:

1️ Udyam (MSME) Registration

  • Register on: https://udyamregistration.gov.in
  • While registering, you can select one or multiple NIC codes
  • For biomass pellet plant, choose NIC 16101
  • You can update or add new NIC codes later via login
  • Udyam registration gives MSME status, necessary for:
    • Subsidies
    • CGTMSE loan scheme
    • Electricity duty exemptions in some states

2️ Company/LLP Registration (MCA)

  • During incorporation on https://www.mca.gov.in, specify main business activity NIC
  • It becomes part of CIN (Corporate Identity Number)
  • Can be amended via MGT-7A or INC-22A (Active Form) with the help of a CA/CS

3️ Pollution Control Board (CPCB/SPCB) NOC

  • NIC code helps classify industry type
  • Biomass plants usually fall under Green or Orange category
  • Submit correct NIC code in:
    • Consent to Establish (CTE)
    • Consent to Operate (CTO)

4️ Apply in Other Government Schemes

NIC codes are required when applying for:

  • MNRE’s Biomass Programme (BioURJA Portal)
  • PMEGP, NABARD, SIDBI loans
  • State-level subsidies (e.g., Gujarat Agro Industrial Policy)

Always use correct and specific NIC codes to avoid rejections or misclassification.
